QUESTÕES E DÚVIDAS FREQUENTES

How it Works

How do I download the app?

To download the Newt app, simply click here. You can also search for “Newt” in both the Apple and Google Play stores.

How do I find a Newt near me?

Simply open the app and it will take you to a map showing all Newts available in your area. If you don’t find an available Newt nearby, simply zoom out the map and search the surrounding areas.

How do I unlock a Newt?

To unlock a Newt simply open the Newt app and tap on the “Scan to Ride” button at the bottom of the screen. From here, either scan the QR code using your phone’s camera or manually enter the Newt ID located beneath the QR code. If it is dark out, you can turn on the flashlight while scanning.

Just be careful as our Newts are sometimes a little adverse to flashlights. I know, right? But we're working on educating them.

How do I ride a Newt?

Stand on the Newt, kick-off then push down the "GO" button with your right thumb to accelerate. Familiarize yourself with the speed first and keep both hands and feet on the scooter at all times. Push down or squeeze the "STOP" lever to slow down or stop.

Where can I ride?

Ride our Newts within our coverage area and make sure to follow local rules. Be careful not to go off-limits as the speed is going to be reduced and you won’t be able to end the ride.

Where can I park?

You can drop off your Newt anywhere inside our coverage area. We encourage riders to park near public bike racks or accessible public locations that do not cause an obstruction of the sidewalk.

For the safety reasons, our Newts should not be parked where they can block driveways, doors, store entrances, or other pathways. Our Newts should never be parked in a gated location or compound, in underground parking garages, or other locations that would make it difficult for another user to access it.

This also includes the red no-parking zones where parking may be met with fines or, if repeatedly done, account suspension.

How do I end my ride?

Before ending the ride, make sure your Newt has the kickstand down and is parked in an accessible area. Then, just slide the “End Ride” button in the app.

Can I park without ending the ride?

You can park your Newt momentarily without having to end the trip by tapping "Pause" in the app. Please note that you will continue to be charged per minute while your ride is paused. To continue your ride, press the “unlock” button in the app.

Safety and Requirements

What is the minimum age required to ride?

You must be at least 18 years-old to ride one of our Newts.

What should I do before I start the ride?

Before riding, please run a quick inspection of the Newt.

If you see any signs of visible damage, please report it in your app or inform our support team at support@newtmobility.com and choose a different Newt. Our team will take the Newt to the hospital as soon as posible.

Are helmets required for riders?

We strongly recommend that you wear a helmet at all times. However, helmets and other protective gear are no guarantee against personal injury.

Do I need a Driver’s License to ride a Newt?

No. It is not a requirement to have a valid driver’s license in order to operate an electric scooter.

Can I ride in the rain?

Newts can withstand rain. However, they will generally not be rideable during inclement weather due to the tire’s low friction. If you choose to ride in the rain, you do so at your own risk. Just please take care of our Newt.

What should I do in case of an accident?

If you get into an accident and require immediate medical attention, please call your local emergency number.

• If injured, please remain on the scene of the accident.

• If uninjured, please move to a safe area nearby.

Once all involved parties are safely out of harm’s way, please call +1(844) 344-NEWT to speak with one of our representatives.

What should I do if my Newt is malfunctioning?

If you encounter any issues with a Newt vehicle that could affect your safety or ability to complete your ride, please stop riding it immediately. For your own safety and that of other users, please report the problem to our support team at support@newtmobility.com or +1(844) 344-NEWT. In your message, please include:
• The scooter ID number.
• A description of the issue.
• Any pictures of the issue.

Payment

How much does it cost to ride?

The standard rate is a $1 to unlock plus a charge per minute depending on your location. To know the price per minute, scan or select the scooter that you would like to use in the app and the price will be showed.

How do I pay for my ride?

You will be prompted to add your preferred payment method when you register.

We don’t require you to add any funds to your account in order to ride, instead, we only process your card after you complete your ride.

How do I get a copy of my ride receipt?

When a ride ends, a receipt is automatically sent out to the email address provided in your account. If you are not receiving receipts, check your spam or junk folder.

Alternatively, you can also select "Ride History" from the app menu to get a full breakdown of your rides.

Why is there a pending charge on my card?

Like other apps, we use temporary authorizations to confirm your debit or credit card. You will not be charged for these authorizations, but they often appear as "pending" on your statement and may take a few days to disappear.

Troubleshooting

I can’t find the Newt shown on the map!

You probably caught them taking a break during their shift.

Please note that bad phone reception can affect locating our Newts. Ensure you are in an area with good reception and that you have searched on open public spaces. Don’t forget to check behind other vehicles or large structures as they can try to hide sometimes.

If you still cannot find your Newt, please find another Newt nearby and let us know about it through your app’s ‘Report’ button so we can send our team out looking for him.

I can't unlock my Newt!

Once you have located a Newt on the map, unlock the vehicle either by scanning the QR code on the vehicle or by entering the plate number. If it is dark out, and you are continuing to have a hard time scanning the QR code, you can either enter it manually or you can turn on the flashlight while scanning.

Just be careful as our Newts are sometimes a little adverse to flashlights. I know, right? But we're working on educating them.

If you find the QR code to be damaged, please let us know at support@newtmobility.com

If you still can’t unlock the Newt, it might be low in battery or flagged for maintenance. In this case, please try another Newt nearby.

What should I do if my Newt runs out of battery?

Stop the Newt in a safe location and end the ride through the app normally. Then, please find another Newt nearby and start a new ride. You can contact us at support@newtmobility.com so we refund you the unlocking fee for the second ride. Please don't feed our Newts! Let our team take care of it.

Other

What is a Newt?

A Lissotriton Vulgaris (aka “Newt”) is a small amphibian from the family of the salamanders. They are amazing creatures that have been into space for six different missions because of their superhuman healing ability. Newts are extremely quiet animals but if you listen closely, you just might hear them chatting with each other.

We treat our Newts as members of our families and train them to serve you as your personal method of transportation for short distance trips.

How fast can Newts go?

In their natural habitat, newts can reach speeds of up to 30 mph!

However, our Newts are trained to limit their speed according to local rules. They are further trained to reduce even more the speed if you leave our coverage area.

If you find one of our Newts being stubborn and going a little slow, you can reach us at support@newtmobility.com so we can educate them once again.

How far can I ride?

You can ride our Newts as far as you want and as far as it can go within our coverage area, which is shown on your map. A fully charged Newt can typically go up to 20 miles before it needs being fed once again.

Please don’t feed our Newts! Let our team take care of that.

Can I transport your Newts in my car?

Well, that would technically be kidnapping… Please do not take our Newts on other forms of transportation such as car, bus, train, etc.

Can I get Newts in my city and/or university?

We are always keeping an eye out for new places that we could take our Newts for vacation! If you are interested in having Newts in your location, please contact us at partner@newtmobility.com.
